How do I know I am ready for therapy?

The decision to seek therapy is deeply personal and unique to each individual. However, your presence on this page indicates that a part of you is ready to take that step. Even if it's just a small part, it's completely okay – sometimes, that's all it takes to begin the therapeutic journey.

Starting therapy can be an intimidating and overwhelming process. Searching for the right therapist can also be daunting and tiring. It's important to give yourself time and space, allowing yourself to breathe and reflect.

At Tranquillum, we understand the challenges involved, and we're here to support you. We offer a complimentary consultation where we can meet and discuss this question together. Do you accept insurance and are you services covered under my extended health care benefits?

Yes. However, it depends on your specific package. If in doubt, we encourage you to reach out to your insurance provider to confirm whether your insurance covers services provided by Registered Psychotherapists. At this time, we do not offer direct billing to insurance companies. Payments can be made through e-transfer or credit card, and you will receive a detailed receipt that you can submit for your insurance claim.

If you don't have insurance, it's important to retain your receipts as you may be able to deduct the expenses for psychotherapy services on your annual income tax return.

Do you offer a sliding scale rate?

Limited spots are available at a sliding scale rate, please reach out for more details and to inquire if space is available.

What should I expect after contacting you for services?

I strongly believe in the significance of the client-therapist relationship, which research suggests is a key factor for successful therapy. To ensure that we are a good fit, I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation.

Once we establish that we are compatible, we will proceed with an initial assessment session. During this session, you will have the opportunity to openly discuss the reasons behind seeking therapy and delve into your goals and expectations for the therapeutic process.

What is the cancellation policy for sessions?

At Tranquillum Counselling & Psychotherapy Services, we have a firm 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to reschedule or cancel your session, kindly reach out to us with at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will be subject to the full hourly rate charge. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances like illness or family emergencies can occur. If such situations arise, please inform me as soon as possible.
